Requirements
Education
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a reputed public or private university.
- CA/CA-CC, CMA (partly/fully qualified) or a certified Income Tax Practitioner license (ITP) is highly preferred.
Experience
- At least 13 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Group of Companies, ISP, Telecommunication, Audit Firms /Tax Consultant
Additional Requirements
- Significant experience in Group Taxation and managing tax matters across multiple companies/business units in Telecom/NTTN/ISP/ITC/IIG is highly desirable.
- Strong hands-on experience in: Corporate Tax Compliance, Tax Planning, Tax Assessment & Appeals, Tax Litigation, VAT & SD, TDS & VDS, Tax & VAT Audits, NBR Compliance, and Tax Advisory.
- Proven experience dealing with NBR, DCT, appellate authorities, VAT authorities, auditors, tax consultants and legal advisors.
- Experience in leading and developing a tax team.
- Experience in Telecom, NTTN, ISP, IT/ITC/IIG or other large corporate/group environments will be an advantage.
Required Functional Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Bangladesh Income Tax and VAT laws.
- Knowledge of VAT & SD Act 2012, Finance Act, Customs regulations, SROs and NBR directives.
- Strong command over automated NBR-integrated software and ERP systems such as SAP, S/4HANA, Tally or Oracle.

Job Responsibilities
Tax Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement effective corporate tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities within the applicable legal framework.
- Provide tax advisory support on business transactions, investments, contracts, restructuring and intercompany arrangements.
- Review the tax implications of contracts and business agreements.
- Monitor changes in tax laws, Finance Acts, SROs and NBR directives and assess their impact on business operations.
- Monitor NBR circulars, SROs and changes in applicable tax laws and regulations.
Tax Compliance & Assessment
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of income tax returns, withholding tax statements, VAT returns and other statutory requirements.
- Ensure timely compliance with Income Tax TDS, VDS and VAT requirements.
- Prepare and submit tax returns, statements and statutory reports within the prescribed deadlines.
- Verify the applicability of TDS and VDS on relevant transactions, payments and suppliers.
- Lead tax assessments, appeals and related proceedings with NBR and other tax authorities.
- Independently represent the organization before Deputy Commissioners of Taxes (DCT), Appellate Joint Commissioners and the Taxes Appellate Tribunal, where applicable.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants and legal advisors on complex tax matters.
- Maintain proper and up-to-date tax-related documents, records and supporting evidence.
VAT & Customs
- Oversee compliance with the VAT & SD Act 2012 and applicable Customs requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly online Mushak 9.1.
- Review and ensure proper documentation including Mushak 4.3 (Price Declaration), Mushak 6.3 and other applicable VAT documents.
- Manage VAT assessments, audits and regulatory correspondence.
TDS & VDS
- Establish and maintain effective controls for Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and VAT Deduction at Source (VDS).
- Ensure timely deduction, deposit, reporting and reconciliation of TDS/VDS.
- Ensure timely issuance of Mushak 6.6 certificates to suppliers.
Audit & Tax Risk Management
- Lead and manage NBR Tax Audits, VAT Intelligence Audits, VAT Audits and external tax audits.
- Prepare appropriate documentation and responses to audit observations.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks, exposures, penalties and areas of potential non-compliance.
- Maintain a tax compliance calendar, assessment tracker and tax risk register.
- Resolve audit and assessment matters while minimizing financial exposure.
Tax Governance & Reporting
- Establish and strengthen tax policies, processes, governance and internal controls across relevant business entities.
- Review tax provisions, deferred tax matters and tax-related financial reporting in coordination with Finance.
- Prepare tax reports, risk analysis, compliance updates and management reports for senior leadership.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Coordinate with NBR, VAT authorities, external tax consultants and other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Maintain effective relationships with NBR, tax authorities, auditors, consultants, legal advisors and other regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Commercial and other business functions on tax-related matters.
- Lead and develop the tax team through effective performance management, knowledge sharing and capability building.
Tax Technology
- Ensure effective use of NBR online/integrated tax systems and ERP platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle or Tally.
- Drive process improvement, automation and data-based tax reporting.
